History

Allele was formed in 2002 by Wally Wood and ex-Otep guitarist Lane Maverick (who had also played in earlier projects with members of Shinedown) and later joined by Tim Tobin (bass), Giancarlo Autenzio (drums) and Kelly Hayes, formerly of Cold. After refining their sound and gaining live experience, they were signed by Corporate Punishment Records, an independent record label which had previously been associated with Cold. The band started to work on their debut LP titled Point of Origin, with producer Ben Schigel, who has previously worked with such artists as Chimaira and Bleed the Sky.

Allele describes their sound as "hard rock with a new feel" and Point of Origin has been received with a good amount of positive reviews. The band completed a tour with label mates Switched and A New Revolution (featuring ex-Unloco frontman Joey Duenas).

Allele has been voted #5 Best Newcomer of 2005 in the Gauntlet's Year End Poll alongside Through the Eyes of the Dead, Gizamachi, The Jacknife and the Red Death.

On June 29, 2006, it was revealed via Allele's MySpace blog that vocalist Wally Wood had left the group. The explanation given from the remaining members was the following: "Unfortunately when you put 5 people in a van for months at a time, every once in a while, one of them doesn't get back in". A fill in singer was immediately announced as the new vocalist and that the band would continue to tour.[1] Allele would spend the rest of the fall touring with 10 Years and Evans Blue.[2][3]

Allele's track Stitches was featured in trailers and promos for TNT's Stephen King anthology series, "Nightmares and Dreamscapes".[4] That song also appears on the 2006 game WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2007.

On 14 August 2007, it was announced by a close friend of the band that Allele had broken up. This has since been confirmed by the moderator of their website. Little else is known about the current state of its members, although rumors have surfaced about a possible second project featuring at least three of the four remaining members.

Frontman Wally Wood of the Jacksonville, Florida-based hard rockers Allele has issued the following update: “I am back. Sorry I have been away a while and glad to hear you all have been still rockin out to the last album Point Of Origin. So here we are in 2008 and you may wonder what is next? I have read a couple of hundred pages of inquiries in our inbox regarding the next step for Allele. Well, first step is, the first show we will play is August 30 at Freebird remix Live in Jacksonville, Florida. After that, we will start recording the next album. We have a lot of work ahead because we want this next album to blow you away. Be patient (like you have been!) but I am telling you it is coming. Hopefully by the end of this year. But, if you want to see the band live, I suggest coming to Jacksonville because there will not be any other shows anytime soon after August as we prepare to hit the studio. Whatever promises you have heard in the past, know that this is for real.’’

On August 30, 2008 the band played a show in Jacksonville, Florida where they performed songs from their debut album Point of Origin. Songs performed included; Immune; Stitches; A Different Someone; Unknown; Closer To Habit; Tightrope and Misunderstood. On the bands myspace page Kelly Hayes stated that they are planning to write and record the new album, stating a mid 2011 release date.

Next to Parallel

Wally Wood stated on the band's MySpace page that they are writing material for a new album, which they have named Something Cured in early 2009. However the name of the album changed to Next to Parallel. Also the band have streamed two new demo tracks, “Something Cured” and “Chains Of Alice”, on their MySpace page. The tracks will be included on this album. On September 4, 2009, Allele streamed a preview of their upcoming new album.[5] Also, the band made recent headway into the alien topic, stating that aliens are real. Wally Wood stated at one of there earlier conferences. Recently the band stated on their MySpace that they are confirmed for November 1 to start recording the band's next album at Bieler Bros. Studios in Pompano Bch, Fl. The band also shot new DVD at Freebirds on December 10, 2010.

In May 2011, they tracked the music at A1A studios in Jacksonville, Fl. Wally Wood then flew to Laguna, Ca to then track the vocals with engineer Pete Charell (bassist for Trapt) at Dexter Dog Studios and since are having their sophomore album Next to Parallel, mixed and mastered at MyPlatinumSound by Paul Lapinski (Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Alicia Keys, Evergreen Terrace, Inspection 12, Yellowcard, Indorphine).

Allele plan to release their new studio album "Next to Parallel" on September 27, 2011.[6] The band also stream the new track What I Get in June, 2011. It was a free download for a limited period of time. Also the band start touring in August 2011. Lane Maverick has rejoined Allele after playing a few shows with the band Mindslip.

The first single of new album "Let it Go" will be released on August 15, 2011.[7] Next To Parallel will be available in Europe on October 31st.[8] Allele have announced plans for a tour with The Chaos Agent.[9]
